Wood Badger, John White
September 23rd, 2009On September 22, at the Troop 73 Court of Honor, Scoutmaster John White received his Wood Badge beads.

Wood Badge is a Scouting leadership program that aims to make Scouters better leaders by teaching advanced leadership skills, and by creating a bond and commitment to the Scouting movement. By “working the ticket”, participants put their newly gained experience into practice to attain ticket goals aiding the Scouting movement. On completion of the course, participants are awarded the Wood Badge beads to recognize significant achievement in leadership and direct service to young people.
Kathy Eaton, the current Wood Badge course Scoutmaster presided over the ceremony and Chris Lynch, a Wood Badge recipient earlier this year, presented John with his beads. The beads are presented together with a taupe neckerchief bearing a tartan patch of the Maclaren clan. Jay Walton, a Wood Badger currently working his ticket presented John with his new neckerchief and leather woggle.
Congratulations, John!
Court of Honor tonight!
September 22nd, 2009Hi Everyone,
For those of you who are new to the Troop, and as a reminder to all you old-timers, we will be holding a Court of Honor tonight – Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Bischoff Hall, Lutheridge. A Court of Honor is a special formal ceremony of Awards, Rank Advancement, and Merit Badges. It is a solemn ceremony that all Scouts are expected to attend in Class-A uniform. All family members are encouraged to attend as well. We hope that everyone can be there to see their son’s and other boy’s accomplishments.
Boys, we ask that if you have earned Merit Badges, to please wear the Merit Badge Sash, and please make sure your uniform is complete and in good shape, accurately reflecting your rank, and Troop Position, if applicable.
This promises to be a fun and memorable time for all. See you there!
John White
Scoutmaster
Congratulations Dr. White!
September 14th, 2009Each year TSS Photography recognizes hard work and dedication of volunteers across the nation who strive to shape the future of our youth through sport leagues, schools, and other organizations throughout the year. This award is presented to top volunteers from organizations that sought to show how much they value its volunteers. Without the commitment and support of these individuals the activities that help grow our communities would not be as successful.
TSS chooses a volunteer from each state; this year for 2009, TSS Photography has chosen our Scoutmaster, Dr. John White as North Carolina’s Volunteer of the Year! On Monday, September 14th, TSS presented Dr. White with this very special award at the BSA Scout Office in Asheville. Along with this presentation, Dr. White received a $150 portrait package, a commemorative award plaque and an ice cream gift certificate to Baskin-Robbins. In addition, TSS Photography presented a $500 donation, in his name, to Boy Scout Troop 73!
We’re very proud of you Scoutmaster White!

September 11th, 2009Radio commercial for Logansport Memorial Hospital
SunSpots Productions would like to thank the boys of Troop 73 for taking part in a :60 radio commercial for Logansport Memorial Hospital in Indiana. The boys recited the pledge of allegiance as they always do, but this time, it was recorded and used in a spot to honor Dr. David Morrical, a long time Scoutmaster in Logansport, IN. Click the link above to hear the commercial produced by Jay Walton at SunSpots Productions.
Creeper Bike Trail Trip UPDATE
September 9th, 2009Hi All,
Here’s the Packing List to aid in Scout preparation for this weekend’s trip, as well as an Itinerary of events.
Please remember that Scouts must pack their own gear (not parents) if the Scout is to know where his gear is on the trip. These fine young men have all been doing so well in preparing for their events, and all you parents should be very proud of your sons.
Each boy should arrive Fri. evening fed and ready to go. We will be providing Sat. AM breakfast, the boys will be making up lunches to take with them on the trail for Saturday’s lunch, Sat. PM supper will be provided, as well as a Sun. AM light breakfast.
This promises to be a fantastic trip, so please thank Mr. Jon Vannice for his hard work, and preparation for this event. If not for his efforts, it would not be happening! THANKS JON!
Thanks!
John White
Scoutmaster
Congratulations Troop 73!
September 8th, 2009
On Saturday, Sept. 5th, the troop held it’s first car wash fund raiser – and it turned out to be a huge success! It was hard work, and the day was hot, but in the end, all the work certainly paid off. In a little over 5 hours, the boys washed vehicles of all sizes and shapes … and when all the suds cleared, the troop had earned $528 dollars! So, congratulations Troop 73 on a great accomplishment! Special thanks to Todd and the guys at Advance Auto Parts on Hendersonville Road for their support!
